Fuel Odour

Fuel Odour
Greetings all... I have a '95.5 (a later 1995 model year designated by certain VIN range) XJS 4.0 Convertible with about 179,000 miles. I've had the vehicle for about 12 years.
I had the fuel odor in my vehicle and traced it down to a cracked Fuel Gauge Sensor (DAC11188).
The unit had a hairline crack in the plastic. In the original Sensor there are two circular pieces of plastic on either side of housing for the plug. The fuel was seeping through that area. Very little was seeping, but just enough to create the odor. After filling the tank, you could see fuel seeping from the plastic.
I replaced the sensor and the gasket. After filling my tank, I notice no fuel smell.

Thanks. Now I have to get rid of that humming noise as explained in another post.
Grrrr... I posted too soon.. For some reason, I still have the fuel odor.. It's interesting in that the smell is strong for few minutes after I start driving and then goes away after 10 - 15 minutes.
when I replaced the fuel pump, I also replaced the gaiter (fuel filler cap to gas tank rubber piece), as well as the fuel fill cap gasket.
I started having these gas odors a few months ago, before I replaced the stuff mentioned above. The smell is strongest/present, when filled above 1/4 tank.
