Default Fuel rail polishing

Does anyone have info as to what type of metal the fuel rail is and how to best polish it.
I have put it on a buffing wheel but it is not responding well to either stainless or aluminum compound. Additionally it seems that there is little uniformity in the coloring.
Suggestions? Thx

I use Solvol Autosol on my rail seems to do a good job.

It is zinc plated steel best I can tell since mine contained significant rust that was a pig to shift.

I think they had some sort of plating when new. Mine was long gone so just polished up. No rust on mine so was an easy job.

Thanks. We don't have those product names here. I'll keep looking.

It’s normal steel with connectors brazed onto it. It has a thin galvanic applied zinc layer, cadmium to color it yellow and then a thin layer of varnish to keep zinc from corroding too fast.
if you polish, you will quickly end up with unprotected steel and visible brazing joints. It will not look good, and it will rust.
Mine is just cleaned a little with Autosol. If yours are gone to far, the solution is to send it out for a new galvanic layer or to paint it.
