Fuel sending unit replacement

I have a 1993 XJS convertible. My question is this: Do you need to drop the fuel tank to replace the fuel-level sending unit? Thanks in advance!

One of the easiest jobs in my 95 convertible. Just make sure the fuel level is as low as possible, that you remove the battery and that you get quality OEM parts.

The sending unit is close to the battery area. Comes out without very little other that the carpeting being removed. Good luck.
