Default Gauge cluster swap

Is it possible to replace my pre facelift instrument cluster with a facelift cluster. I prefer the look and find the round gauges easier to see.

They haven't been available for years and I think that it is a bit of a complex job to do due to the amount of wiring involved.
The drum gauge panel has a plastic sheet embedded with circuit tracks that snake all over the place and I guess that the later one doesn't.

The simple answer is "it depends"

Later pre-facelift XJS had electronic speedo these will be easier to swap. You may need to change the connectors.
