Got a rusty XJS? Here’s what you can do with it.
Turn it into a tribute car. Group 44 made 3 XJS race cars. The first two were built on solid XJS platforms. The Third? Only the roof was steel. The frame was welded up tube steel. The rest was fiberglass or aluminum.
There is the guy who made Group 44’s fender flairs. He’s near Washington DC. He’ll sell you a set of those. The doors, trunk lid, and hood ( bonnet ) can be used as patterns to make the mold for those parts. ( remember you only have to make the outside skins). How to is all over the Internet. And no if done right it’s not messy, or itchy.
The great thing is according to the rules they were able to move the engine back 8 inches ( front spark plug equal to front spindle).
That dramatically improved weight bias and thus handling.
