Post H&E conversion fuel tanks 88 XJS

I have an 88 XJS H&E conversion convertible . Bought it new.
has been in storage for two decades, and now restored well enough and running well.
my current project is replacing the fuel tanks. Got a brand new lower tank to replace leaking original (the one under back seat area) . We have removed the upper tank (in trunk area) which was working fine. Outside is perfect, interior has some rust.
i found a company that can restore this tank. (Any recommendations?)
can anyone here provide me with a photo of the INSIDE of the tank (or a cut-away photo version) so I can better understand the difficulty in restoring the original interior ?
When it was new, of course I had repeated issues of fuel feed failure, and it was flatbedded back to Jaguar in Ramsey, NJ repeatedly where they did a modification and the problem was resolved.

Welcome to the forums Larry,

I've moved your question from Jaguar Forums Feedback & Suggestion Centre to XJS forum. Members here with the same model will be able to help.

Larry,

My first XJS was a Hess & Eisenhardt and the fuel tank design was a PITA, even after the recall "fix". I can't remember which of the tanks was the larger one, but if it were me, I would convert it to a single tank design. I'd rather fill it up more often than deal with the inherent issues of a bad design. Your car is 32 years old, so it's likely to only be a Sunday cruiser and a single tank would likely provide plenty of fuel.

Just a thought.

Cheers

Hi Larry.

I donīt know if You have H&E repair manual. There is one part for fuel tanks.
My problems are:
- pump for delivery from lower (interior) fuel tank, has low power, I must change it.
- Rochester fuel gauges, not hardware - "gear", but dials. Both are bad and Rochester Inc. from Dallas doesn't want to talk to me much, probably because I'm from Europe, where they have a representation in Belgium, which is like a dead beetle

Are Your dials working ?

Best regards, Roman
