I gave LED's a go some time back and found they would not switch between high and low beam although they would flash to high beam with the stork manually. May have been bad units but may also be to do with the beam latching set up in the relay.
The light output looked to me like a backward step anyway so I never followed up on the reason for the malfunction.

I'd stick to the standard H4 bulbs, I've not had trouble seeing things at night with them, assuming they are aimed correctly.

And stick with the European single-piece lights. It was designed for them, after all.

I used "slightly illegal" 55/90 W H4 bulbs. There was no harm to the wiring.

I do have European lights. I don't remember where I bought them from. An internet search is in order.

I'm yet to see a low priced LED bulb with acceptable pattern. In addition the low beam stays always on, not desirable at high speed IMO.

Yes I do, bulb is replaceable, not sealed. There is a 100/55 W H4 in amazon.com, but it probably is for US headlight. Does not give you correct pattern in euro light.

I thought the pattern was made by the reflector, and not by the bulb?

In any case: https://www.danielsternlighting.com

Romel,
The quad headlight setup will give you more light than the single one will as it gives you the H4 and the H1 on main beam. Also more adjustable. The only difference in the headlights (both types), is the beam pattern. They come in lefthand dip for RHD or righthand dip for LHD cars. This simply means that when you go to low beam the light pattern dips or goes down to the pavement/sidewalk side of the car. This so that the light doesn't shine onto the oncoming cars. Saying that l believe some US spec lights unlike the ROW, simply dip straight down.
The light pattern is set by the front lens, it is either a LHD or RHD pattern. The problem with LED H4s is the way the LEDs light focuses inside the headlight casing compared to the incandescent bulbs. That's why it is important in the LHD world not to buy UK (RHD) headlights. :-)
