Default Heater/ AC controls 1996 4.0

The vacuum tubes from my engine to the ac controls are cut off near the firewall. I need to know which tube comes from the engine and which comes back to the water valve. This photo shows the tubes going through the firewall boot. Thanks for any help.

Surely one of you can answer this question. It would be a big help to me. I know it would be a bit of trouble to raise your bonnet and look but I do things like this quite often to help a fellow XJS owner.

Ragjag,

I don't know if this will help you as I have a RHD car and your US cars may have different setups anyway, but here goes:

On my car with that bulkhead boot on the left side, the pipes are as follows:

- Looking at the boot from the front of the car, the pipe that is to the left is slightly thinner and goes to the vacuum valve connected to the pipe at the back of the cylinder head.

- a slightly thicker pipe in the right of the boot (looking from the front of the car) goes to a small connector valve above and to the left of the boot on the bulkhead, and then goes to a small boss on the inlet manifold.

As I said, don't know if that helps you at all?

Cheers

Paul

Default 96 XJS AC/Heat control vacuum lines

in your picture; left line goes to manifold, right to heater valve

Can you tell me how to access the vacuum reservoir? I believe I have a leak somewhere.

Fesiwi, I do not know where the reservoir is. In fact I was unaware there was one.
Sorry.

Mitch
It is a black plastic cylindrical tank under the passenger knee bulster where the fuse box
Is.

Do the AC/heater doors work off this tank?
