Default heater control illumiation

pre face lift car. has anyone converted these optic fibre light to led (light emitting diodes) what size did you fit and where did you obtain them please.
I have already converted the light and ignition, and want to do away with all optic fibre if possible,
I drove back from the coast in the dark and the heater lighting, as standard, leaves a lot to be desired.

This may (or may not!) interest you.

Not LED but still an improvement, brightness-wise, over the fiber optics. And not glaringly bright....which is I frustrating problem I've had in experimenting with LED conversions

I have converted my AC controls to LED. This was because the fibre leads to one side were broken.

Drilled holes in the rear of the fascia and added strip LED's to the back. This works well and still dims.

It's been there 5 years now and still working (touch wood)

I also added strip LED's to the instrument cluster because the LED's did not provide enough light.
