Default Help, please?

I'm new here and hope this is posted correctly. I have a late '88 V-12 XJS. I need a new or rebuilt complete brake system accumulator unit consisting of the tank, pump, motor, and two switches.
There are some on line that look exactly like mine that state for 90 to 94 XJS. If they are exactly the same and do the same job, how can they be so different that they won't work on an '88 model?
Order clerk says they won't work on '88, but doesn't have any idea why. I think he's just reading the sheet he has.
Is there a difference or will it work?
Thanks,
Sam Whigham

Default

ABS came along in either '89 or '90... which may be why the parts changed...

Cheers,

Default ABS on late '88

Thanks, Will.
I have the four book factory service manuals for the late '88 XJS. Book 4, Section 70 has six subsections on the ABS braking system. It is mounted under the hood right behind the right front wheel (normal LHD model). In some later models, they seem to show it moved closer to the master cylinder on the driver's side of the car, but - it appears in every way to be exactly the same ABS unit.
That's what I need to know. Is it the same unit with a different mounting or is it a different design? If it's the same unit, I can make a mounting bracket.
Appreciate your thoughts on this.
Thanks,
Sam
