Not only that but everyone else looks back with envy. You could even end up on the internet like me:

I started out with a clean sheet of paper and started listing all the features etc. I wanted in a special car. Budget was a big factor but also style, rarity and comfort ( i'm 6'4" tall ) were high on the list. As I worked through my list and figured out what car would hit the most items and conditions I was looking for the XJS came out at the top of the list. Only problem was in Idaho I had no XJS at the time in my area to check out in person. Luckily I found a '95 owned by an older couple in our local British car club and was able to check it out in person and not only did I fit in it but I was smitten with the whole car. Since I had my first one lined up to buy in southern California I called the owner right after checking out the local car and told the seller in southern California that I would be down the next weekend to pick it up-the rest is history as they say ! It is still my favorite car even though I am up to 6 special cars now. Just something about the XJS that keeps me looking back over my shoulder and puts a big smile on my face when I am around the car.

Prices for running XJSs are not bad, and creeping up. Shhhh. But a non-running 32 year old XJS is a big bill just waiting to happen. If you could find a shop that wants your money that much. Capability to actuall make repairs not withstanding.

I remember walking away from a $2500 69 XKE. Back then that was a common price, and this one needed paint. I laugh thinking about it now, but one day there won’t be many fueled cars at all. Newer models aren’t going to age well and electrics are going to win.

Some day an XJS will be as rare as hens teeth. Im going to hold on to mine and drive them on home brew gas if I have to.
