Default Did you know? You probably did...

I just noticed another courtesy feature on my XJR.

Seems my garage door opener likes to kill light bulbs and they keep burning out. So when I get home I am left in a dark garage until I can make it to the light switch.

I do know that if you hit the red light button on the key fob the exterior lights will come on for a minute or two. Nice feature.

The problem is I don't always remember which button that is in the dark. 50% of the time I hit the trunk release. So then I have to go back and close the trunk!
But yesterday I hit the trunk release, and then I hit it again, and it closed itself!
Nice!

But you all probable knew that already...

I did not know, but maybe I already ran into trouble because of that.

I hit the trunk button twice and my trunk was "half locked". I could not open it and I could not close it. All buttons didn't help and I had to open the trunk with the key.

Didn't know that but did learn that if you hold the unlock down long enough, all the windows and sunroof open. Now, if I could only figure out how to reverse the process.

Bob the S Types do that also post 2003, global opening and closing, the opening is standard but the close function needs to be programmed.
I assume the XJ is the same?

Drb007, unless I a missing something your troubles could be over by putting the cars lights on time delay shut off. On the stick that controls the lights under AUTO are three lines. The first line will keep the lights on for 10 seconds after shut down, the second for 30 seconds and the 3rd for one minute giving you plenty of time to find the garage light switch.

If you hold the door lock button on the key fob for about 5 seconds all the windows and sunroof will close.

I didn't know that, but i'm certainly going to try it! I have a habit of opening the trunk when i'm trying to open the fuel filler flap.

I tried the global close on my 06SV8: Global opening works, but global close does not work from my fob. I believe it does work from the lock switch on the dash, though.

My window one-touch works on both driver side windows but not on either passenger side window; I tried the one-touch resetting proceedure in the handbook, but that didn't work on the passenger side either.

I'll try the boot unlock/lock from the fob. I know mine does relock when you push it down if the the rest of the doors are still locked.

I am still learning some of these bells and whistles like pushing the fob lock button twice to fold the mirrors, and I just read about the sun roof tilt last night, but haven't tried that yet.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who hits the trunk button by mistake. I seem to do it about twice a month.
