Barn find last week. 1990 #'s matching V12, undriven since 2002 when stored quite improperly with tarps duct taped to it.

 

Well I have 9 out of 11 that run. One is being.... difficult, the other runs but is in the process of being cut in half so at the moment not road worthy.

 

2 out of 5 running. Can't seem to make myself say no to kittys needing adoption.

 

89 Jaguar XJS Convertible V-12 with 39K miles. Purchased last December. Was running on maybe 10 cyl. Immediately started putting Sea Foam in with gas, eventually replaced wires, plugs, rotor, distributor cap (cracked) and slowly the skipping stopped. Runs smooth now.

 

keep a spare coil or two... Mine needed coils a year after doing all that...

used a super soaker on the cat when I got to the house...with two fire extinguishers standing by.... (nerve racking) ( after safely getting my daughter in to the house...of course... ) that killed the cat... replaced it

 

My 1990 XJS Coupe(33K miles) runs just about like new as you can find. I have always taken care of it and maintained it as well as you can. Mine runs and drives great but I wish I could drive it more...

 

That's why you need to get a second Jaguar. I had the same problem and bought an XJ6. Which runs, by the way, though it's not going anywhere while it awaits the dreaded rear brake rebuild.

 

My '97 XJ6 is a running daily driver. I just finally, finished the transfer on my XJS, which was purchased from an estate sale. There were a few problems with the paperwork which I discovered after the smog test was completed. I replaced the tranny and got it smogged, now the paperwork is completed and I have my plates. Needs lots of "little" things but will start driving it locally very soon. My Mark VII may be running in a few weeks, if not, who knows when. I will drive it locally when it is ready, even if it looks a bit seedy.

Was running, you know the saying "the road to hell is paved with good intentions", my transmission was hunting 1st 2nd 1st 2nd on light throttle as I was planning on driving it to Melbourne and city traffic it would have driven me nuts so I decided to plug in the laptop and tune the shift map, well here is where it goes wrong the laptop USB to serial adapter hangs while I was writing to the TCU and BOOM no change gear now, it wont change out of 1st gear. This was 2 weeks ago and today I fixed it so it's running again.

you can put mine back in the running category it had been down for probably 5-6 months though.

If it starts, drives and you actually expect to get to your target even after several miles, I will say it runs...

 

Alternator belt broke, rubber cap on the crankcase vent thing had split...

all new belts (4) new rubber cap on crankcase emission thing and had the Fan shroud Powder coated.
the bear of the job is attaching that fan clutch to the pulley... I always get a crick in my lower back.
so all back together and happily running on all 12 ( after only running on 6 getting her off the ramp.)
she was so happy to be back on the road that she even chirped the tires at a light when I shifted into drive... ( loud exhaust pick up truck next to us, surprised me as the road was DRY)
