Default How many tire sizes fit a 88 xjs

I'm having a hard time getting 235/60rv15 tyres for my 1988 Xjs-c. What are my options?

Your better off with the 215 70r15 the ones your looking at are tiny, or the alternative is to fit 6 spring spacers and cram 245s in there.

I'm looking at getting some 215 mud tires soon as my winters didnt last the summer. Don't ask...lol

a 235/60/15 is a bigger tire than a a 215/70/15

235 represents the width in millimeters then the second number is the aspect ratio or percentage of tire with to sidewall higth so sidewall is 60% 235 mm vrs 70% of 215. and then the last number is the rim size in inches.

xjs's with 15 inch rims came stock with everything from 215-235 tires. a 215 70 would probably be just slightly taller but narrower. than a 235/60.

both sizes were offered as oe sizes at one time or another on the xjs. a narrower taller tire would be a better winter tire, but a shorter wider tire would be a better summer tire. it sucks tire choices are so limited in 15 inch rims now days.

Someone on the forum had a website with visual tire size comparisons, it should of been a Sticky post. The 215 fill the wheel well the others were more ladylike but wider.

Hi,

I have just been down this road thoroughly in the last month and tried a few different options.

See my other pose here:
https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...-tires-208683/

In the end my cars performance and handling is much better with the original sized tyres being the factory 215 70R15.

A great cheap option is to go for Goodride RP28 series. They look really nice and ride very nicely and have great reviews. Goodride is available in the USA.

Cheers
Craig
