Default How to replace Air Filter?

I started out with an S-Type and I just bought this 1994 XJS 4.0. l I think it's the A6 or the A16 I don't know which one I'm trying to learn. I can't seem to find any information on this car I'm just trying to replace my own air filter! Lol I can't find a YouTube video to save my life. Maybe replacing an air filter is too simple for this form I don't know but if anybody can just tell me what to do that would be fantastic.

I don't have a question with regard to the carbon fiber 2006 XK8 that I bought. Again my original car when I joined the form was 2005 S-Type. I seem to be collecting old jacks these days. I'm trying to figure out how to work on anything by myself and I don't know that I'm navigating in this form properly I don't know if I'm still a new member or what have you!!

Gary,

You appear to be having some forum navigation issues so I've moved your question from the end of my *New members - a MUST read if you have just signed up* thread to XJS forum. Members here will be able to advise on replacing the air filter.

Gbgold,

Your 4 litre has the earlier AJ6 engine.

To change the air filter:

1. Disconnect the clamp of the inlet pipe to the air filter body
2. Disconnect the clips of the air filter body to the airflow meter
3. Remove the wingnuts that secure the air filter body to the inner wing
4. Remove the air filter body from the car.
5. Undo the spring clips at the end, and remove the endplate of the air filter body
6. Remove the air filter

I really suggest that you need to get a copy of the genuine factory workshop manual.

Paul
