Default I lost

Guys, I want to thank everyone for all the help over the last several months, but I lost. Had the car running, and was working on the vacuum advance when I am pretty sure she dropped a valve, based on the incredibly loud clatter from around the A5 area. Don't really know what to do next. I guess I have a nice parts/donor car, so I listed it on the marketplace. If I don't find someone ready to take on a project, I may be parting it out. Keep you posted
Thanks again
Phil

Sorry to hear that. You're the second in two weeks. Not to add insult to injury, how about a sbc if the cars in good shape. Mine runs like a drean. Easy to work on. More power for less $$$$.

I sometimes question my own sanity over this issue. My 89 convertible is a beautiful car, and the V12 leaves a lot to be desired, but here I am, about to put another V12 in it.

So sorry to hear......

Did you retry it? My entire engine clattered when I overheated it. It sounded like I was running it without the cam covers on.

Are V12s developing a proclivity to dropping valve seats because of age and hot/cold cycles? Didn't the XK engine have similar problems until a hold down/staking repair for XK valve seats was developed? Something to think about...

everyone says the v12 is prone to seat dropping, but its in extreme conditions and "prone" because the v12 isn't prone to anything else since its forged.

Like I said I have overheated mine until it blew a hose and got so hot that the oil was so thin the entire engine clattered like a WW2 aero engine. I think it is one of the few things that can happen to the engine, which results in it being a bit exaggerated.
