Can you say awesome! When I think of the perfect XJS that is it-black-fast-extra wide and bad a&s. Too bad they were so expensive in the day as I would have loved to see one cruising around when I was a young man.
Dang I would love to take the young guys at work out for a drive in that as it would give them a story to tell all their friends and put the XJS on the map for younger generations in my area-oh well it is good to have dreams.

Well now you have motivated me to get one built and bring it up to the All British Field Meet in Portland so we can stare at it together and see if I can sway your opinion-hey if nothing else I know the younger generation will love it and it will be a blast driving it up from Boise.

We might be up to a dollar soon if everyone keeps putting in their !
So I'll throw mine in.. I personally really like what they've done as a whole package- de-chromed, wide rear haunches, integrated spoiler. 6 speed with a 7.0L and twin superchargers just to top it all off. Sounds like the perfect package to me.
One curiosity with this particular car is the absence of the "LeMans" script that I've seen on the doors on other cars (see attached). Perhaps this was optional?

A bit of information here.
Note the different bonnet treatment on the Le Mans car to the first one that I posted.

Lister used twin Albrex superchargers and they were Centrifugal.
Lister made these cars to customer order, so they started out as a stock XJS and tick the boxes till you reached your $ limit.
Everything was optional
Wide body
High tail lights with rear spoiler
Slopey nose
6.0L
6.8L
7.0L
7.0L + supercharger
and the list goes on.
Here is one with wide body 6.0L and no rear spoiler treatment.

It's contrary to the Jaguar concept.
Jaguar are sleek, trim, sophisticated. That type of thing.
I usually like a few subtle styling mods to convey a somewhat tougher, purposeful appearance....but it's easy to go overboard. Jags are not supposed to be 'in your face'. With a Jag you want people to say "That's simply stunning" and not "Wow. Holy ****, take a look at that f--kin Jag" ....if ya get what I mean
Plus, beyond just Jags, I've never really liked trying to make a street car look like a race car.

I'll be there !
And, yeah, I'm an old fart so I admit that influences my opinion
Cheers

Its nice to see that they didn't all have the huge rear quarter windows, high tail lights, and sloping rear window.
I think that someone mentioned on another thread, that the US versions were pretty much just cosmetic options. That's a shame, because I'd like to see and drive one of the 7 liter supercharged cars.

Hugely entertaining when it worked properly, cars would dive out of the way when it loomed in their mirrors.
Sounded awesome and went like stink.
Sold it (practically gave it away) to the guy at simplyperformance about 10 years ago.
