Default Is this IRS plug and play to my xjs? (PICS)

HI there is someone selling a jaguar IRS with outboard brakes and front suspension local to me, he said it was for a 80's XJS but I know these where for the later years. Unable to verify what car they came off of, I was wondering if you guys can tell me if it will be a direct bolt-on for my 89 xjs convertible. Thinking of buying it and changing out all the suspension to have less down time in my xjs compared to taking the IRS out of my current car and then refurbishing it and putting it back. THanks

That's actually a very late IRS, as it has vented brakes. Those will only fit 16" wheels I believe. The axle ratio is 3.54, and your 89 will be a 2.88, so the revs will be a fair bit higher. It will be a bolt in though.

The mounting point on the diff cover is there, next to the fill plug.

Mostly a bolt in with a few key differences.

The way the brake lines are routed is one. On the earlier cars the tee fitting is on the IRS. On the later cars with the outboard brakes the tee fitting is on the body so you'll have to get a little creative and make sure the flex lines for the outboard calipers are connected properly. The tabs to do that may not be on the early body.

You will also need the ABS sensors from the late IRS because the early IRS ABS sensors are in a different position and oriented differently. If your IRS doesn't come with those abs sensors that could be a big issue because the late ABS sensors are getting difficult to find.

Looks like a great upgrade if brakes can be sorted.
Good find.

Having the calipers out at the wheels is a major plus, except brake dust LOL
