Default jag GM compatibility

Hey Im interested in buying a 1990 jaguar xjs but I have a somewhat limited budget. I've heard you can take expensive jaguar parts, take off the covering and there is a cheap GM part inside. Im wondering if there are any cheap ways of maintaining a jag and also what parts if any are compatible to GM. Thanks

The a/c compressor is GM, as is the power steerting pump and the module inside the ignition amplifier. The transmission is a GM unit, the TH400.

Unless you find an exceptional car ...probably at the high end of the market...you'll be spending a chunk of dough to run an XJS, at least in the early months where you'll be catching up on all the repairs that previous owners have neglected.

If you do your own repairs you can save a ton of money, naturally.

Cheers
DD
