Jaguar XJS v12 1981
Hello everyone, I live in a Caribbean country and I was browsing the internet and I saw that the sae that the car sends on some portals is 10w40, I think it is very thick to carry all the oil for such a large engine. Do you think 0w20 or 0w40 would work better for me?something else, since there are experts in the area here. When I go into reverse it hits very hard. Could you send me a link or portal to request transmission support?
10W-40 is the minimum for the V12. In a warm climate, 15W or 20W-50 is better, and what Jaguar recommended. This is not a modern engine. It needs thicker oils.
On an 1981, you should have a Turbohydramatic 400 (TH400). There is a ton of info on YouTube about TH400 issues.

Agree with jal1234.....you can read about oils - i have a article all about it on my web library>>> https://www.jaguar-wiring-schematics...fo%20pages.htm
20W50 in all mine, always.
Remember, this engine was designed and speced in 1954, shelved, and dusted off for the XJ12 and E Type in the early 70's. Nothing much changed until the 6ltr version, and then, very little.
See the attached for the trans mount.
