As most of you know I am always doing something to update my “CAT”.
PROJECT CAM COVER UPDATE
My cam cover was beginning to show it’s age so I decided to freshen it up and here is what I did.
1. Lots of “out gassing” on the cam cover…..So I sanded some of the worst down a bit…basically prepare the surface for
paint. Try to keep it looking as original as possible
2. The “JAGUAR” and the “4.0 LITRE” (paint was faded) so I looked for some “GREEN PAINT THAT WOULD MATCH”. See attached photo….unbelievable match in color with some rust-oleum paint…..”HUNTER GREEN”
3. Located some artwork for the 4.0 LITRE
4. Found a local sign maker and had him program on his computer a sticky stencil for the 4.0 LITRE (see attachment) FANTASTIC JOB BY THE SIGN MAKER.
5. Used a very small foam roller to go over the original raised JAGUAR WITH THE PAINT. SIMPLY SPRAYED AN AMOUNT ON PLASTIC SHEET AND UTILIZED A SMALL PORTION OF THE ROLLER TO “ roll the top of the JAGUAR…..VERY LITELY…..DON’t press hard otherwise you will spread paint over the cam cover in addition to the JAGUAR SURFACE.
6. Took measurements and stuck down the stencil in the proper location.
7. Two (2) passes with the spray can ……medium coats…
8. Remove stencil after a few minutes…..don’ let the paint completely dry!!! Otherwise you might lift up portions of the 4.0 LITRE PAINT.
