As a fan of the leaper, I wonder how it got there since my understanding is that Jaguar directly supplied the cars to the show, not dealers.

The production crew might've added it.

I've had the misfortune of working on a few 'movie and TV' cars. They've all been cobbled up in some form or another....sometimes shamefully so.

Cheers

Well, I would love to know that little piece of XJS trivia, so that if Jaguar actually delivered the car like that to the producers, I could throw it in the faces of you leaper-haters!!! All in good fun of course !

Thanks for the info!

Well that just disproved my theory that Jaguar had provided a car fitted with the leaper from the factory !! :-(

It says that Alternate car #1 obtained "from a dealership" was the one fitted with a leaper.

So much for that !

I decided last week, that the best place for a leaper for an XJ-S is the owners skin... So I had one done...

UPDATE

Well guys I finally did it.....exit the leaper.....enter the GROWLER.....and I like it!

I didn't realise how nice her sweeping bonnet was until now....definately a fan

I think it's a keeper

My decision to try it out was based on a majority of xjs i looked at online and in the movies that predominately sported the growler. To me it seemed more proper.....so i tried it out....and now im in love!

My XJS also has (soon to be had) a leaper with a rectangular base like yours but as much as I would like to, I cannot replace it with a 'Growler' for Two reasons.

First its in the middle of the bonnet/hood and even if it was nearer the front, the holes in the 'Leaper' and 'Growler' don't match up, although I think they might do if you have one of those 'Leapers' that has a round base.

You were lucky you had a round 'Leaper' as the ones with the oblong bases, don't seem to have the bolt holes in the same place as the 'Growler' so not so interchangeable, unless you drill more blinking holes!
