Default Looking at a 1986 XJS

Hello, not new to automobiles. Been an ASE Master since 1983. Anything I should look for on a 100,000 mile vehicle? No rust, engine turns, no spark. Body and interior pretty good condition. Garage kept it's whole life and inside right now. Pricing also? Have 2 1975 Midgets now want something different.

In the "How To" sticky thread at the top of this section is a buyers guide that will give you some of the basics.

In years past I owned an MG Midget and MGB/GT, among many others.

Cheers and welcome aboard

86 is the best! Don’t listen to those 6L 90s XJS guys! ( mines an ‘86 too )

compression test would put put my mind at ease over any potential overheating induced valvetrain damage. A smoot turning non-starter with compression is likely to be runnable.

Rust is a real concern. Hard to look where you should before purchase. Body rust is likely going to double your purchase price to correct.
