Default 89 XJS side mirror entire unit replacement Question

Hello, I will be removing the entire drivers side mirror unit on my 89 XJS. I am wondering if the 2 large screws holding the unit in place are connected to nuts requiring me to remove the inside door panel ? Hopefully they are threaded into the door itself with a stationary female thread allowing for a simple replacement. Information is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for your knowledge. Andy

There are captive nuts so the door cards can stay on.

It is a good plan to replace the chromed screws with stainless items. They are available in the same shape and thread size. Occasionally the captive nut comes loose and is not captive enough. If so it can be drilled out and new clinchnut fitted quite easily; or even (door car off) a slightly smaller diameter nut and bolt pushed through the captive and done up tight to re-clinch the OEM item, then undo it and fit the fixing screw to the tightened fitting.
