From the compressor on the passenger side of the car I see two hoses. One heads forward and to the drier. The other goes back to the firewall. There are what look like identical ports on these lines. Which of these is the low side?

 

They are actually different sizes so you can't mess up.
The low side port (on the suction side of the compressor) is the one closest to the firewall in this case.
