Lynx XJS Spider with V8 Conversion, Opinions
I am obviously new to the forum and will hopefully be posting on here a lot if I end up with an XJS! I found a 1984 XJS convertible that appears to have been converted by Lynx (due to the back window shape and placement of rear window buttons in the console, plus it is a 2+2). The good is that the car is a Southern car and has no apparent rust whatsoever and the body, paint and interior are all very nice. The car comes with a nice set of Daytons. The bad is that the rear windows do not roll down, the speedometer is not working and the rear windows will need new rubber seals. And yes, there is that V8 conversion that was done in 1989 with a Summit Racing crate 350.
The car is far away from me, but I had a mechanic take a look at it and drive it. He said that is drives very well and really gets after if when you lay into the gas. The only issues that he found are the speedo and rear windows. He said that it is a very clean and nice car, but not showroom.
Before I potentially make a $4k mistake, I wanted to get the experts opinions on the car given the info that I have provided. I know that the V8 swap devalues the car, but that is not a concern of mine. Thank you in advance for your time.

Update! That was quick, the shop's manager just call and apparently there is rust on the rear suspension and one of the control arms is very look. There was some overspray on the car to hide some rust. The top of the engine looks new, but the underside is another story. Anyway, looks like I am still in the market for an XJS!
He said that for $1,500 or $2k it would be a good buy if you wanted to do work on it. If anyone is interested in the car, let me know and I will give the contact info of the people selling.
