Default Master Cylinder Replacement solution

I have replaced my OE master cylinder ( 1985, vacuum booster system) with a 1995 Mitsubishi Eclipse unit. There are few options for replacing the Jag MC and a rebuild kit was more expensive than the entire Mitsubishi unit. I used a new Jaguar reservoir sourced from Ebay, made a bracket, and had to adjust the threaded plunger on the pedal arm as well as enlarge the mounting holes on the MC body. I also had to bend some new brake lines, source a brass "T" and create some hybrid metric/SAE circuits, but I now have brakes again! My car is a 1990, and the Tevis system was hacked up and non-functional so a retrofit was the easiest option at the time. A big thank you to the thread on this forum for suggesting the Mitsubishi swap! ( I can't find it right now to give proper credit for the idea.) I'm here to say that it works flawlessly and cost a total of $60.00 shipped. The Jag reservoir cost twice as much as the master cylinder, but it looks correct under the hood and was easy to mount using the bolt locations of the Booster bracket. I just wanted to pass this on to anyone else having trouble finding replacement parts.

Just the master cylinder. I bought a used vacuum booster system from Ebay... the master cylinder itself was bad so I needed another and jag stuff is impossible to find... Booster and mount are Jag parts.... the Mitsubishi master was new from Rock Auto.com... Reservoir was Ebay as well.

Hope this helps!

I was going to do the F 150 unit.... the circuit outlets are in a better position ( on the side instead of the top) but the Mitsubishi worked perfectly as well. Did you use a proportioning valve? just curious... I did not and don't need it. The car stops really well!! no lockups even at panic stop from 50 MPH.

i also do not use a proportioning valve , i do use an adjustable pro valve ,but find brakes work best with it wide open like no valve.

the aluminum M/C is around 2lbs lighter weight than the old iron Jag M/C. every little bit helps, weight is the enemy.
