Missing Throttle Linkage on a 1996 XJS?
Hi Jag Guy,
I just purchased a 96 XJS conv. It has a slight hesitation from stop, then proceeds normally. No other problems. While researching, I found that the throttle linkage is missing the return spring and rod as your picture shows. Not sure this is the problem, but I should probably have this part. Do you still have it?

Not that simple, I guess.
Looks like only the "XJR" X300s had it.
The JDHT catalog shows 4.0 XJSs having this arrangement (with part numbers as mentioned above) but I wonder if the catalogging isn't overly broad? IOW, that the parts are listed does not always mean all cars were so-equipped.
Cheers

I would bet Doug is correct, seeing as there are many without the return springs. It may be a different throttle valve(body) on the XJRs that require the springs.
