Moving seats back?
I'm thinking about buying a 1990 XJ-S convertible and was surprised to see that the driver's seat does not move far enough back for me. Whle I'm not a little guy, my Alfa spider has the typical Italian driving position where I can stretch out my arms and be very comfortable. I realize Jags are tighter but the XJ-S if far too restrictive for me to drive...and enjoy.
It looks as if there is sufficient room to move the seat back a few inches if the tracks would permit that. Has anyone ever shifted the tracks back or relocated them in order to allow the seat to go back all the way against the little rear storage compartment?
I realize that would restrict reclining angle but I tend to sit up rather straight anyhow.
Any help/advice will be appreciated. If that is possible, I may move ahead and buy the car after getting a PPI. If not, I'll stick with my Alfa for my top-down motoring.
Many thanks. Ralph in New Jersey

Hi Ralph,
You could try moving the rear height adjustment down. I did this on the '90 and '96 XJ6s I had. This has the effect of moving the seat back as well. I've had to move the seat height front all the way down and then moved the back position down to where I could sit comfortably.
Hope this helps,
Mike
