Default My Unicorn has arrived!

My XJS has arrived, and yes it is a factory manual. Having an E-Type, and an XJ6C, this is slightly more sports car then GT car. This is how the car should have been!

I still am sorrtng out the history of the car. I am the second owner and I have the origina windowl sticker, and all the books. It is numbers matching and the vin confirms the manual option. What I am uncertain about is how this car came to be, it was delivered to Los Angeles to the dealer and from here sold to an east coast dealer after begging. More to come on that.

i will have a more formal review after I can get some miles on Him. The car is in fantastic shape and all that is really needed is new tires, alignment, brake pads, shocks springs and a fluid change. More to come on how it drives.

here are some pictures to tide all you over.

Beautiful!

As I recall only about 200 'facelift' manual transmission cars came to USA and Canada.

Cheers

Very nice.

Rare in any market, and in that condition, even more so.

The XJS is a 1994. I am away from the car until the weekend so be patient with the review. In fact I may do a proper video review XJS vs. Etype too.

A couple questions I do have for you all.

1) What was included in the touring suspension option?

2) Were all the manuals made together in sequence of vin numbers?

3) Anyone know where I can get some of the decals in the engine compartment?

4) Anyone know where I can get a set of 96 celebration wheels?

Stay tuned

Yes the AJ16. Great engine! the power delivery is so smooth. Also the engine comes alive at 3000 RPM's. The car also drive more like a four speed which I like with the 5th gear more of an overdrive but it still can easily pick up speed.

Hi - what decals do you need? I have the designs for most of the XJ-S decals. I've just starting on the next 10+ designs to get remade to add to the ones I already stock.
Regards
David

I am looking basically for replacement for all the decals in the engine bay for the 1994 year. i am especially looking for a Lucas decal, silver on the left top of the engine. Its silver with black writing and says "Lucas 5am". It is just in front of the brake fluid tank, and below the firing order decal, and right seems connected to air intake. Seems like they all peel off.

Oh, yeah, that car is a real beauty, in and out. Agree, 5th is indeed an OD. Ideal for the freeway, at times, or better yet, the open road.

And, the fact that it can accelerate in 5th indicates a great torque band match. In generic parlance, "it has the guts to pull a tall gear".

Great.
Is the gearbox a Getrag 265?
Do you know what are the gear ratios and final drive?

Yes the gearbox is the Getrag

I am not near the books for the car until Friday. I will look in the manual and get that information for you.

Even better, you can shift to second a ten miles per hour and no lugging. The car is so smooth. Once I get new shoes on him (Cinturado P7'S W or Y rated, I am going to take him through the canyons of Southern California and see how long the gearing really is.

Hi Carl,
The decal you mention is the Lucas air flow meter. There are many variations on this part and therefore an equal number of variations of decal. If you have the part number of your air flow meter I can customise a decal accordingly.

Thank you.
Upside down is good to train the neck ...or the brain!

I guess the diff is a 3.54:1, as with the ZF4HP 24 equipping the 4.0s.

Sorry for the neck training. Are you going to swap out for a manual transmission.
