Default New here

I've been planing to get a 1975 XJS for a time now. I have always loved the shape of the car and the size. I need a 75 because I have a special engine and transmission to power it. Here is a picture of the engine. Does anyone recognize it ? The black car in the picture is a Porsche 914, its powered by a 400 hp SBC, with a special built transmission. I am a retired Tune up & driveability tech. I spent 25 years working in General Motors dealers repairing EFI systems, computer controlled stuff etc. I really love the "build" of a project, since I do all the work myself it takes me forever to finish anything. Over the years I have made some big mistakes engineering wise but eventually things fall into place LOL. The Porsche runs great but it took years to get things to work correctly. I'm sure your guys know conversions are a dime a dozen but ones that work right are harder to find. Well I'm now looking for a 75 XJS, in CA. I won't have to see the smog inspection guy. This engine is going to need a stand alone EFI and emission regulations don't allow me much leeway.
Any guesses on the engine ?

The engine is from a totaled 2005 CL65 AMG Mercedes Benz

Ya I know "why"

It an AMG 6.0L V12 Twin turbo,
24 plug engine. 600 hp & 730 ft-lb/torque
That's why !

Twin Turbo V12. Sweet Jeebus... you have to keep us posted on this build. Take tons of pictures!!!

Next vehicle for me: 87-95 Porsche 928 or '03 + CL600

Nice choice of drivetrain man.

What turbos are on the engine? I am planning FI for my Jag V12 and would be interested to know what Mercedes used. I have googled but have been unable to find any info on the turbo spec.

Cheers

Warrjon, check out 2003+ mercedes cl600. They all have twin turbo V12. Drive one to see what the fuss is about... and if that doesn't move you, it's only a $300 tune to unlock another 100HP from the stock engine. ****ING BEASTS.

Sorry the question was what turbocharges are on the engine IHI or Garrett. I am aware of the AMG I had a supercharged one I sold 18months ago, and the AMG use IHI superchargers as apposed to the Eaton used on other Mercs.

These are an awesome engine, but not readily available here Australia. The cost would be well more than turboing my Jag V12
