Smile New member hello

Evening everyone, I've just joined and am new to XJS world. My father who is 90 has always wanted one. He looked out of his window and saw a man in a blue XJS 5.3 V12 outside the house waiting to pick up his daughter from school. My father went out and spoke to him and bought the car on the spot, without driving it or looking it over.
I get a phone call in work to say he has bought it and is keeping it on my drive with no intention of driving it. I have to drive him about in it.
My father explained that it was his last blast before the crematorium! True story, so while I am a competent amateur, I am an XJS virgin full of stupid questions. Be gentle with me. Thanks,

Welcome to a new hobby. Spend every minute with your father that you can spare. I wish I had done that.

Welcome, love the story... I agree that you should spend as much time as you can with both car & Dad while is around, personally, I never got to work on a car with my Dad and often think about that - I am envious of people who learned from their Dad or at least had him around when working on their cars. Hope you have a big warm garage you can work in - it gets cold in Wales... I used to go Camping for many years in North Wales so I know!

Welcome to the fold, I hope you and your dad get many miles of joy.

BEWARE owning an XJS can become very obsessive...................

Welcome, indeed. This may be the big cat forum, but everyone has their claws sheathed.

And I think in this cute story we're overlooking one thing: sure, someone bought an XJS on the spot. But someone also sold one on the spot! Blasphemy! (Unless the money was truly obscene, of course....)

"Welcome to the asylum. Nurse Ratched will be along with your medication shortly ".

With the average age of Jag owners, sadly that sentence will most probably mean something to most of us
