New member researching 1991 XJS V12 sports trim???
Hello there,
I am considering spending a chunk of money on a 1991 sebring red XJS V12 and need some help. The car has one owner and is apparently fitted with a sports trim??? I read many posts here, browsed JCNA and Kirby's book, and quite a few Jag enthusiasts' web pages, but never saw a car quite like this. I am new to this forum and don't know how to post attachments, but included a picture in my signature profile. Can send larger and higher res image via email.
Notice the color of the bumpers (red), the plastic, and the rear wing? No fog lights. Are these originally installed? Does anyone know how many XJS's had such package, if any?
Looking forward to hearing your expert opinions.
Thanks in advance,
SB

Ken:
Thanks for the quick response. Everything seems authentic and for a newbie like me, I cannot tell the difference between an aftermarket mode or a dealer part. The JAG wire wheels are also "real".
Assuming it is moded and not a true factory option, will a car like this hold any value from a purist point of view? Or it will become a money hole, something like the V8 conversions I've seen around?
Regards,
SB

Are you sure that what you have is not a TWR XJR-S? The Tom Walkingshaw Racing (TWR) / Jaguar venture of 1988 thru 1993 produced wonderful examples with specially built 5.3L and 6.0L engines and some suspension tweaks. These cars come with the special, really awesome, Sport body kit, featuring the "Sport" logo on the valve covers, on the front grille and even on the speedometer dial. It is possible that the kit may have been separately available and installed by some enthusiast owners.
Do you have full blown pics of your XJS here at JEF?
