Default New Wheels maybe....

I had considered getting the Honeycomb stock wheels refinished this spring, as I've got a bit of corrosion around the center hubs, and some finish wearing off in different places. A local car detail place advertising this work quoted me $150 per wheel, elabotating on the 5-stage process. -He also said they (among others in this city) could supply new rims nearly the same price, allowing me to go up in size slightly(I may go 16") to give better road handling and cornering with a little less flexible tire height. I took a photo of one I liked in his shop, and I'm sure we could figure out the proper tire size to keep the overall wheel/tire height to maintain proper speedo calibration.

I've already posted this photo in response to another post, but thought I'd start this one to get better replies. Feel free to comment, pro or con.

We seriously need an XJS wheel thread stickied. I like those.

16 inch XJS facelift rims require no speedo recalibration - probably no 16 inch rims do. I changed my 15 inch starfish for 16 inch "modern starfish" from the facelifts. Great move. I run 16" 225 x 60s and there are loads of tyre options instead of practically none. Also over here insurance can be invalid if a car is shod with tyres that are not rated for its top speed, even if it is illegal to do that speed!

FWIW I believe that XJSs look better with more solid spokes, but that is entirely a matter of the eye of the beholder.
