Default "Newbie" gets a Jag

I'm pretty excited to have an XJ -SC in the garage tonight. It came to us by doing a trade with a gentleman that was looking for an MG.

He looked at what I had to offer and settled on the Midget. He has a well sorted MG that I am sure will provide a lot of smiles per mile.

I have a bit of a project on my hands to bring the jag to a better state of repair. But I feel it is worth the trade. For one, apparently it is 1 of 500 that were painted in black. It's a targa, so that is, or will be a rarity eventually.

just because its rare, doesnt mean people will buy it.

i do love black, and i MUCH prefer the T to the rag top.

looks good from the pictures.

VERY NICE.

The Cabriolet's are rare down here also, and fetch fairly serious $$ when ever they pop up.

Anyway, who said you were ever going to sell it.

I thought of moving on from the Coupe, but when it comes to doing the deed, NO WAY.

A well sorted Midget will only bring 6000. if fortunate. There seems to be a cap on what you can expect to realize in a MG sale. It was fun though I'll have to admit. But looking ahead, it was getting tough to crawl into the small cabin.

Rare bird indeed, can't remember the last time I saw a Cabriolet on the road. If you haven't already, download Kirby Palm's XJS book - invaluable resource. Also, you might add the model year to your sig, so folks know what type of vehicle they're dealing with when dispensing advice.

Finally, if you haven't seen all the threads about XJSs catching fire around here... read them, and apply the prescribed modifications to your car ASAP!

Welcome!!

Thanks Flint.

I will certainly look it up. I test drove the car yesterday. (Haven't transferred the insurance and registered it yet)
It has a rattle on the left front side turning left, or on deceleration. I'm suspecting an exhaust or motor mount fix?

I've been crunching the nos. to find out that the car has been driven an avg of 5000km/ year. (3000 miles/yr) not bad... the braking system, tires have been redone 2 yrs ago, last owner had a tune up done. Aside from that ,judging by the given receipts, no serious mechanical issues have occurred within the last 26 yrs. I have an automatic appraisal of 9500.00 on the car that was transferred from the midget. It may change once I have an actual appraisal done.
