Oil Leak
My 94 XJS Convertible is leaking oil - seems to be coming from the passenger side nearest the windsheild corner of the big Silver cover that says Jaguar 4.0 (Valve cover??).
The check engine light also came on recently with an EGR Valve code. I had a new EGR valve put in by the dealer a few years ago. I bought the car in 2001 with 48,000 miles and it now has 85,000 miles.
When I bought the car the dealer checked it out for me (pre purchase inspection) and noted that the value seals were going bad, which caused a puff of smoke to come out of the exhaust when I started it. They said it was a common characteristic of the model and I shouldn't worry too much about it. It has run fine for 7 years now.
Can anyone give me some advice on this before I take it to the repair shop??

Oil leak could be from a valve cover gasket. The complexity of the repair depends on how difficult it is on your model to get the valve cover off to replace the gasket.
Valve seal replacement is a moreinvolving repair. The blue smoke you see would likely be from oil slipping past the seals and burning off into the exhaust. So unless it was literally pouring out of there, it wouldn't cause a big leak.
Either way make sure to keep an eyeon engine oil levels until you can get the problem fixed!
