Is this Oil Temperature OK without an Oil Cooler?
When my Oil Cooler broke on 'Cherry Blossom' my 1990 XJS 5.3 V12 which I am restoring.
I temporarily replaced the Oil Cooler with a by-pass Pipe, which I had made up for the job.
The reason being I want to get her past the MOT before I spend £300+ on a New Oil Cooler with Pipes.
In the UK we don't normally get the Scorching hot Temperatures of the USA but yesterday was about 18/c
Which is considered to be very hot in the UK.
After half an hour of driving round my garden, I took a digital reading with my hand held digital temp gun.
Where I got a reading of 110/c which I suspect would have been a bit Cooler, had I been driving along an open road.
Is 110/c an acceptable Temperature for the Oil, or is it getting too Hot?
The Oil I am using is a good quality 10/40 Semi Synthetic.

Broadly speaking....
According to many sources 95ºC-110ºC is an ideal range. About 127ºC seems to be the danger point for conventional oils. The danger point for most synthetics is about 149ºC.
