Parts Help Please?!?!?
Hi all, newbie here. I am helping a friend fix his 1989 Jaguar XJS V12 and it needs a crank sensor. He had a little fire caused by the pressure accumulator on the trans spewing atf onto the exhaust and noe the car wont start because the crank sensor wire got burned. I am having a lot of trouble locating a new crank sensor, the dealer doesn't have it and says they can't get it. Napa practically laughed me off the phone, same with autozone.. Didn't think they would have it but they are down the street so why not try. Rock auto doesn't have it either. Been looking online and no one seems to have it. I've dealt with Land Rovers for years and there is a company called Rovers North that has the contract with Land Rover for parts for older trucks. Is there something like this I don't know of for Jaguar? Or is there a place that does sell bits for this car? Please help, we want to get this car fixed, but not until we know it will run.

The Marelli engine has 2 sensors. A TDC sensor on the front of the crakshaft, the sensor is under the crank on the bottom of the cover, and an engine speed sensor on the flywheel. Both sensors are the same part number.
The ignition computer needs both of these signals as well as the engine coolant temperature sensor for cold cranking timing, without these the ignition ECU does not send tach signal to the EFI ECU so no injector pulses.
If the coolant temp sensor is faulty the engine usually starts first time for 10-20 seconds then dies and will not re-start.
