My car is a 1977 Jaguar XJS V12, left hand drive. It was in a fire and is in a rather sad state. I set out to fix it.
When I switch on the ignition, I hear a click. When I try to crank, it gives another click. But I don't know where it is coming from. Where is the starter relay? Maybe the reason I can't find it is that it isn't in the car. But I do hear a click. Also the fuel pump doesn't turn on which is kind of lucky otherwise I would spill petrol. I guess I can disconnect it once it starts working. I did remove the fuel from the tank for safety consideration.
Thanks for reading this. I found everything about the starter relay that I wanted to know for the time being. I just wanted to crank it. I found the wire coming up from the starter solenoid, touched it to the +12V thick wire and it cranked ok. I image I should do this from time to time to avoid the engine sitting in the same position for too long. Until I can fix it and drive it.
