Default Power Door Locks Failing?

I have a 96 XJS AJ16. The power locks seem to work intermittently. If I press the remote, the locks lock/unlock about 50% of the time, first time only. If the locks don't lock/unlock automatically, it seems like they have gone to sleep. If I manually lock/unlock them with the key or from inside the car, they "wake up" and work fine, until left alone and I end up spinning the roulette wheel again.

Any idea what the cause may be? The passenger side door seems less reliable than the drivers side. So when I use the remote to lock the car, sometime the drivers side locks, but since the passengers side doesn't, the alarm starts chirping. When I manually actuate the passengers side lock, it seems to wake up and remember to work auto or manually.

What should I be looking at? Relays?

I have the same issue with my 94... additionally the mirrors seem "asleep" too... I bet is a loose connection somewhere, need for a good cleaning and some oil to free the mechanicims (sp?)

the other day i was driving and about after 30 minutes of driving the doors locked on their own....

I did oil the hell out of the actuator, but it still falls asleep. I also cleaned the connector with some electrical contact cleaner.

Before I greased it up, it was getting stuck, but now it seems to forget what to do...until it does, and then it works fine.

Very strange. I can't afford to spend time hunting down a connection. I was hoping it was indicative of a failing part, like a relay.
