PreHE lost ignition key
Hi
Not my car, but I have been asked if I could help: Is it possible to get a new ignition key for a car based on VIN and of course documentation that you own the car ??
The Jaguar dealers here in Denmark just tells they don't recognize the VIN, and then it stops there...
We are talking an inherited car, that has been garaged for maybe 20 years. Looks clean and nice.
VIN 103572 could even be a 10:1 engine I guess ?

Leo,
Your dealer in Denmark seems to be either lazy or useless. Assuming you've got a LHD Auto, then the full VIN of your car is JNAEW4A?103572 (The question mark will be a character that indicates the engine emission level.) Just give them the full VIN as stamped on the id plate, and they will be able to get the key code from Jaguar Heritage.
As regards hoping that you've got a P-digital engine, I'm afraid you haven't. I have a pre-HE with a later VIN than that and I don't have a P-digital.
Hope that helps
Paul

Hi Paul
Thanks. What I needed to know was if it was possible to get a new key made, so a clear yes was what I hoped for...
It's not my car, so I'm not the one that has talked to the dealer. Both JNAEW4AC103572 and same code starting with SAJ (to fulfill the 17 digits used later...) has been tried without luck, but as it according to you should be possible I will encourage the owner to pursue this by contacting another dealership.
