Default Pricing help: 1990 Jaguar XJS Convertible 10,000 miles

Good day! I am really a fish out of water here and am in need of help in pricing and sales tips. More photos are in my album, not sure how to link it. This beautiful car lived in Oklahoma with my father until 1 month ago, it is now in Michigan and ready to be sold. Garage kept and treated like a queen. Other than a small ding in the driver door (can be seen in photo), everything is in working order and well maintained. Would Autotrader be a good choice to list it?

I would get a convertible top boot for it, fix the ding in the door, remove the car phone and replace the lid on the console and pay for an extensive professional detailing; ask $18,000.00 and accept no less than $15,000.00. There is a market for clean, well maintained XJSs and IMO these cars should be priced accordingly.

Good luck!

Looks like a nice car. The problem with XJSes is that they can appear shiny, but can be hiding a lot of issues. The only chance you have of getting good money for it is selling it to a Jaguar nut, and to do that you are going to have to talk their language. I don't know how many times I have seen the words "everything is in working order and well maintained" when talking about an XJS and it has later been proved to not be the case. For example, when was the last time the fuel injection hoses were changed ??

A low mileage car is sometimes appealing, but if it has had basically no maintenance apart from the occasional oil change, it's going to need a lot more work doing to it compared to a 100k miles car thats used frequently.

I would start by collecting as much history info as you can about the car so it's easier to convince people the car really has been maintained properly, and not just had a yearly oil change and detailing every month

Good luck !
