Default Quarter window action

I love the XJS that I now care for. How do the quarter windows go up and down? Is there an "override" that can be rigged. Sometimes I like all windows down when the top is up, sometimes when the top is down I like all the windows up.

I did not understand the question. If this is regarding the rear windows opening just about 2 inches with first key press and than opening more with the second press, this is by design. The first key press opens it up just enough to avoid resonance when driving with the front window open.

barmorehome,

Some owners have rigged up independent switches for the rear windows. However, there is a fairly easy get-around to both your issues:

- If you leave the hood catches in the locked position and operate the hood down switch briefly, the rear windows will go down. However, remember that when you do the reverse and press the hood switch up, you will need to wait 8 seconds before the windows come up.

- To get the windows up when the hood is down, first put the hood down. Then turn the hood hydraulic switch 90 degrees to the "manual" position. This is the switch located immediately above the pump. Easy to get to in the boot if you have a 2+2. A bit more awkward if you have a 2-seater. Then press the hood switch up and wait 8 seconds. The rear windows will then go up but the hood won't move. Remember to put the windows down, then turn the hydraulic switch back 90 degrees, then press the hood switch up, when you want to put the hood up again.

Hope that helps

Paul

Boy ...you learn something new every day on here. I knew the down way but not the up one.

Although here in Florida l really only need them down. Unless some Harly idiot or idiots without an exhaust silencer is either in front, behind or next to me......or anywhere near in fact !!! Then being able to put the rear ones up would be great. Why they have to make soooooooooo much noise (and get away with it) amazes me.
