Just came across a rear engine dragster less engine and trans. Hmmm I wonder if a V12 would be allowed?

.
most any engine has a class to run in, and there are already some V12 jag powered dragsters(nothing exciting except it has 12 cylinders).
because V12 is much to heavy 750lbs, when you could use an 8L V8 weighing 500 lbs, and lately some little 4cylinders making over 1000hp ,and weigh around 300lbs.
again power to weight?
OK MG what you need to do is, figure HOW to make a V12 run on NITROMETHANE Fuel???
yes that will keep you busy,$$$$$$$$$$$$?

Can you imagine the arc welder they need to constantly fire the ignition on a Nitro dragster? Yuk, nope! Ain’t gonna do it.
but it would be fun.

Incidentally I did ask about using “Pop” ( nitro) in small percentages and found surprising answers. Apparently in small percentages you actually need to lean the fuel mixture? But one thing is absolute. The stock ignition system is not up to firing nitro reliably.

Pretty hard to do serious racing with a Jaguar V12. Obsolete technology, heavy engine, etc.

People racing Jaguar’s today are doing it just for fun. But you won’t find a nicer bunch of people. I’ve found them willing to lend anything, helpful and yet respectful, recognizing the pressures on.
