Radio/CD malfunction 1992 XJ-S
Chantal of Saint Paul Minnesota has a silent radio systen and a CD disc stuck in the changer. The battery fully diischarged due to a stuck relay and then the radio silenced with the screen displaying "--CODE--". If I punch random station selection buttons the display goes to "--WAIT--" There is no sound emanating from the system. Any ideas if there is a code to reset after the battery voltage got so low?
The CD stuck in the changer is probably due to misalingned mechanism and has happened three times now. Previously I was able to jostle it free, but this time proves a bit more intractable. Techniques anyone?
Extraordinary pleasure in Jaguaring about the area and the convertible reinforces the advantages and pleasure of seeing that which is about one. This is convertible number four in my vehicle history and will remain with me for as long as possible. I will never sell Chantal up or down the river as we enjoy each other's company. She is quite a princess with all 12 cycliders humming contentedly. I treat her with consideration and respect and she likes to roll around and traverse hither and yon.
The silent radio and cd aren't the worst scenario possible, yet I do often enjoy soft background music. Chantal has had about 1,000 miles of radio silence in her 71,000 mile life and has asked me to put restoration of radio/cd on my agenda. Not wanting to offend a princess, I seek advice from the Jaguar world.

Many thanks for your response - copming on my 68th birthday no less. I had anticipated the necessity of dealer involvement, yet held out hope for being able to accomplish the needed service without bothering the dealership or paying the dealership.
Downtown Jaguar/LandRover of Mpls have some wonerfully helpful technicians and they quickly identified the code for my vehicle and relasyed the procedure of waiting a short time - one hour or less - with the key in acessory position and then entering the code on the selector buttons for the radio/cd. My code was four integers and worked impressively. Subsequent to this, I disconnected, removed, cleaned its compartment, refinished the cables and terminals of the battery and had the same code signal. This no doubt due to the battery disconnect. I waited only about five minutes, entered the code, and resumed proper function.
Yiur resoonse to get the code from a dealership hastened me to do so and it was cost free and I got to know a couple of the technicians so I won't be going in cold turkey when I see them for needed service.
Again, thank you for putting me on the double railed track - being simply on track allows a single track and that can be precarious to travel on.

Hi chantel
I have just become a member --tell me have you sorted yr prob with the radio ---- if you havent this is yr problem---
each radio in this model was security tagged and when you disconnected yr battery the radio the system assumes that it has been stolen to over come this problem yr car when initailly purchased was issued a plastic card with the radio security code on it along with the log book and jag book pack------ now if you dont have this card you have to contact jaguar dealer direct and ask for the security code and they will ask you for the VIN number of yr car --when they have that info they will send the data you need in return post
