Removing Windshield Washer Reservoir Sensor

Removing Windshield Washer Reservoir Sensor
My '91 XJS coupe has had the Low Washer Fluid warning light on the dash lit since I got the car nearly 2.5 years ago. The washing system works fine, no leaks in the reservoir, etc. I'm thinking dirty/disconnected/dead sensor. I believe its the square grommeted thing in the center of the reservoir exposed wall with the thin wires coming out of it (!). Had occasion to pull the wheel arch covering for some other work, and want to get this fixed while accessible.
Is there a particular method or trick to removing the sensor, or just gently pry on it until it pops out?
