Well after spending 2 hours cleaning the old gasket maker off the pan I got tthe pan on, tail housing with new bushing and seal on, and the output shaft in. Its all back together and ready to go back in. But im waiitng until I get a new stall so ill get it flipped over and then move the bench out of the way and clean up before my short deployment this weekend.

Between that book i got and 2 specific youtube videos I've posted it was quite easy. Hard part is getting them in and out. And after following Jeff's 700r4 swap thread im glad I choose to rebuild instead of swapping at this time.


I think if i had to do it again i could do it in a day or 2. So far hardest part was getting the trans out....hopefully going in will be a little smoother. I got some cleaning to do underneath the car while the trans is out and also see if i can tell where the oil is leaking. Which I'm sure its the valve covers. And all the typical spots.

 

Seriously good job, looking forward to the big thumbs up when you go for a drive.

Well my temp tasking got cancelled so now I have 2 weeks of time before I go on vacation.

Anyone know what the camshaft duration is for this v12? I've only found one number 313 but I dont think that is right.

Would it be listed in the ROM?

ya i saw that too. ut thats the start i think when they started going to v12s. becasue the timing changed too. its very confusing information lol

 

There really has been only one camshaft for the V12. Slight differences are due to the way to measure not because any change in lift or profile
Intake opens at 17 degrees BTDC
Intake closes at 59 degrees ATDC
Exhaust opens at 59 degrees BBDC
Exhaust. closes at 17 degrees ATDC
lift is .375.

 

so is 252 the correct number if someone asks me?

 

im still alive. Jag is still same way, up on stands. Havent gotten a new stall converter yet. Im about to head out for 2 weeks vacation. then back for 2 then out the door for another 2ish lol.

So hopefully the end of august ill have the tranny back in place.

 

Still on Vacation. The down time is nice. Came up with some ideas for the Jag for down the road. But years away haha.

Still lurking around. I should be picking up a torque convertor today or tomorrow depending on the local shops stock. I have a 5 day weekend coming up so hoping to get the transmission back in then. I will update tomorrow.

I rebuilt the transmission mission with upgraded internals and a shift kit. Increasing the stall to 2500 rpm. Hoping to have the transmission back in this weekend and hopefully not have it explode lol.

 

picked up my new stall converter today. 2200-2500 . hopefully get the trans back in tomorrow!

 

So I got the new torque converter yesterday. Was gonna put the trans back today but completely forgot to order insulation for the tunnel lol. So ill spend a little time tidying up. Should have it Tuesday as its Thanksgiving weekend.
