So inspecting my prep job / primer of the valve covers I'm not happen with the results. So back to square one. I'm gonna try using some sandblasting media. I have a compressor and a gun with a hopper but never done it before. So we'll see how it goes. Gonna strip it better this time lol.

I'll update when they are all stripped.
I looked around online for the highest strength paint stripper I could find. Maybe I should have gone to the auto body supply guys here on the island but did not. I used something called Aircraft Paint Stripper,,, something like that,,, and still, couldn't give me a 'finoshed' product ready for painting. There were areas of paint so cooked on that nothing I was trying worked. Brought the removed covers to a guy with a sand blasting set up (very very hard to find here on Staten Island for some reason) and he said he struggled. But,,, I think that was because he had a crap set up. Just say'n...
Ok! I'm going to post a link here. Y'all can laugh of you want but I have done this now SEVERAL times and it works a treat. This, what this guy does, with a few modes of my own. It works.

I used a stripper I got at crappy tire. It's in a gel form. So I brushed it on amd left it for about 30 minutes. It did work ok but I still spent 3 hrs scrapping. I ran out of time so I'm gonna do another coat of the stuff tomorrow and hopefully get rid of the remainder then a light sanding
The cover looks great.
Sand or media blasting? was this an option? or vapour blasting? vapourblasting pictures
Bolt the cover down on to a piece of wood to protect the mating surface?
Have you purchased cover gaskets?
What number is the part number? From memory there are a few options.

Paint stripper, a brass wire wheel in a drill, and hand sanding lol.
I do have gaskets I got from rockauto.
But I think I'm gonna just to RTV (high temp red) instead now.

IMO, Rescue, Gortex gaskets from Jaguar or whoever, plus a smear of RTV/ gascacinch each side, plus ally for the half moon carefully sealed, is best. Mind you, Grant disagrees with me and agrees with you! But he is better at this stuff than we are!
