Yup! That's where I grew up; on those bald prairies of Montana where the wind blows 350 days a year, where Winter lasts 10 months but July and August make up for it with Hot, Dry, and more Wind.

Great photography! You caught the true essence of the Big Sky as far as possible given the constraints of a camera's field of view.

Thanks for the reminder why I don't live there anymore.

Still in South Dakota... Will continue with updates.

The AC is temperamental. (What a surprise.) the compressor clutch disengages on its own at random points. The best guess as to why, is the new belt geometry: previous owner removed fan clutch and air pump. Fit a new belt to drive the AC compressor and alternator. The new geometry only allows this belt to contact the crank shaft over 90 degrees. This may not provide enough torque to spin the alternator and the compressor, so the compressor disengages. The compressor, all hoses, drier, etc. everything AC under the hood has been replaced trying to remedy the situation.

I'm open to other suggestions.

It hasn't been an issue yet as Montana Wyoming and SD so far have been pretty cool. We'll see as the temperature warms up moving east.

Dammit lnr I'm a doctor, not a photographer.

Really though, these are all iPhone photos. Neither I nor my co driver are photographers, so we're doing the best we can.

Needles highway.
Electric fan circuit decided to quit. Low speed uphill climb. she couldn't take it and let her fluids boil over at the top. At least she did it in a place with a nice view. (Yes that's coolant dribbling out under the front left wheel)

After she regained her composure, cooled town, we topped up, and continued on.

Custer state park.
This is the worst photo I'll torture you folks with... But holy s#!t... Coming over the crest of a curvy mtn road to see this monster. Locked up all four wheels trying to stop as it was walking right at us.
The big males are HUGE! This is the best photo I got off as I was trying to figure out what to do and keep from soiling my pants.

I can only speak with certainty about how the AC works in my car, but my compressor also cycles in and out as dictated by the temperature I've selected even on warm days in California. It's my understand it's supposed to work like that.

I'm not sure the compressor is smart enough to shut off just because the belt is wrong. I think it would slip if there wasn't enough grip on one of the pulleys because the sensors are still telling it to cool things down.

I hope you don't mind, but the photo was so dark (dark night, dark trees, dark animal) I couldn't make out what you had encountered, so I lightened it a bit.
