Default Schrader Valve Replacement - 1995 4.0

Has anyone changed the schrader valves on a Facelift with R134a? Mine are leaking and it appear(ed) to be a simple job to replace them. I bought a "schrader valve tool", with a large and small piece to fit on the valve. The diameter small one (.168") is too large large to fit thru the hole in the port (.150") to contact the schrader valve. Does anyone know if there is a smaller tool for our Jags? If anyone has done this please let me know what I am missing.

thanks,
Dave Christensen

I replaced mine, you can’t just replace the valve, you have buy the small aluminium housing that contains the valve. This unscrews from the pipe

I think you are correct. Do you have part numbers for both ports? They are different.

Thanks.
While searching for the ports I found an interesting note on a seller's website:

The Cap is the Main Seal

Do not underestimate the importance of the service port cap. Many owners think the internal valve does all the work, but on these systems, the cap with its rubber O-ring provides the primary seal. A missing, cracked, or loose cap is a guaranteed leak. Always tighten caps firmly by hand and replace them if the seal is damaged or missing.
I will try replacing the caps before I change out the ports and see what happens. The car lost 8 oz of freon in about 8 months.
